As an Executive Director at Singularity University (SU) with both venture capital and entrepreneurial expertise I am in a unique position to leverage SU’s exceptional faculty, advisors, corporate partners and alumni to discover and invest in companies that have the potential to play foundational roles in emerging industries or which will cause significant disruption to existing industry incumbents.
Most of these early stage companies focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum computing, digital health, machine learning and more, and often are not yet on the radar of traditional angel or venture investors. This provides for a differentiated portfolio and a competitive advantage for sourcing early stage investments.
As the head of summits at SU I get to discover and interact with hundreds of early stage companies a year, and often over a prolonged period of time. This affords me the opportunity to see how these businesses are trending often before they’ve gone out for traditional funding.
I anticipate making approximately 4 Seed or Series A Investments per year. These will be done primarily as private syndicates, but some may be shared publicly as well. The initial investment will likely range from $250k to $500k with the potential to deploy additional follow-on capital. I anticipate investing up to 10% in the deal with a cap at $25k.
Recent investments have included Ripcord Digital, Kezar Lifesciences, and Jetti Resources.
I share my deals with a small group of select investors. Participating in my syndicate allows you access to these deals, while maintaining the opportunity to cherry pick those investments that you're most excited about.
Given the early stage nature of these investments you should be comfortable making high risk investments. I will provide updates on portfolio companies as there is material news to share.
Thanks.
