Fund managers regularly ask questions that should be simple:
- How much do we own in this company?
- Does this financial metric match the underlying records?
- What is this LP’s current position?
Today, getting the answer often means opening several dashboard tabs, checking spreadsheets and documents, or emailing the fund administrator and waiting.
AngelList Link changes that. It connects AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude directly to a fund’s live AngelList data. GPs can ask a question in plain language and get a current, source-backed answer in seconds.
Here are three of the most useful workflows we’re seeing so far.
1. Understanding a portfolio position
Before Link, understanding a position could require checking each vehicle separately and manually combining the results.
Now, a GP can ask: “What is our total position in Acme across every vehicle?”
Link can return the shares held, cost basis, current mark, ownership percentage, and total exposure across funds and SPVs. A GP can also ask how a new financing affected dilution or compare a position with the rest of the portfolio.
This makes it much easier to answer questions during a partner meeting or evaluate a follow-on investment using current numbers.
2. Verifying financial metrics against documents
Fund data often lives across accounting systems, valuation records, capital account statements, and spreadsheets. Before giving an answer, finance teams may need to reconcile several sources manually.
With Link, a GP can ask for a metric—such as NAV, TVPI, capital called, or a portfolio-company mark—and then ask to see the records behind it.
Every answer includes a path back to its source. Supporting documents such as valuation records, capital account statements, and subscription agreements can be reviewed in the same conversation.
You get the answer faster, with the evidence to back it.
3. Understanding an LP position
Answering an LP question often requires pulling together commitment, contribution, distribution, ownership, and unfunded-capital data.
Now, a GP can ask: “What is this LP’s current position in Fund II?”
Link can return the LP’s commitment, amount contributed, distributions received, remaining unfunded commitment, and ownership percentage. GPs can also query an LP’s history across vehicles or identify outstanding capital calls.
That means fewer follow-up emails and fewer promises to circle back. The GP can answer the question while the conversation is still happening.
From email chains to direct answers
The common thread is simple: fund managers should not need a scavenger hunt to understand their own funds.
AngelList already supports the underlying administration, banking, investments, capital calls, distributions, and investor records. Link makes that system of record available inside the AI tools where GPs already work.
Ask a question. Get a current answer. Verify the source.
Getting Started
Link works with any MCP-compatible tool, including Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, VS Code, and Windsurf.
- Add AngelList Link as a connector in your AI tool.
- Authenticate with your AngelList account. Link inherits the access you already have — same vehicles, same permissions.
- Start with Which vehicles do I have access to?, then try a position or LP question and ask for the source record.
Link is read-only. It answers questions and produces the documents behind them; it cannot move money, send notices, or change records.
Starting on Claude is particularly easy:
